July 06, 2016: IAG Cargo becomes the official logistics partner of the upcoming ‘South Africa: 3 Million Years of Art’ exhibition at the British Museum, which opens on October 27, 2016. The carrier will be transporting irreplaceable artworks from South Africa to the United Kingdom for the exhibition.

The artworks will be transported via IAG Cargo’s “Secure” service, dedicated to the delivery of high-value consignments.

South Africa is home to some of the earliest evidence for the development of artistic thought and production anywhere in the world, beginning three million years ago. This will be the first major UK exhibition of South African art to explore that history.

The exhibition will shed light on the varied artistic achievements of the country through an exciting range of artworks loaned for the exhibition, with many being transported to the UK for the first time.

Drew Crawley, CEO at IAG Cargo, said, “This exciting partnership builds on the work we completed last year with the British Museum. Our Secure service will see the team work closely with the British Museum throughout transportation to ensure that maximum care is taken to move these priceless artworks.”

The British Museum exhibition ‘South Africa: 3 Million Years of Art’ runs from October 27, 2016 to February 26, 2017.

It will bring together around 200 objects to help visitors to better understand the country today, as key episodes from the country’s history are illustrated with works that provide unique insights into South Africa, both past and present.
