Nov 18, 2016: Bolloré Logistics Zambia has been awarded a contract for value-added warehousing logistics for Unilever Zambia. This is a renewable two-year contract, and operations have already started.

Bolloré Logistics’ teams are managing a dedicated 2, 000 square metre warehouse for the client, which has racks on four levels with capacity for around 1,600 pallets. The warehouse is also equipped with two electric forklifts and handling equipment suitable for warehoused products.

Our WMS (warehouse management system) is used to manage the warehouse, in accordance with the contractual commitments agreed with the customer.

The team dedicated to UNILEVER comprises 15 people who will work on this project in Lusaka.

One of the project’s key success factors has been the excellent cooperation between the various Bolloré Logistics entities involved, especially the commercial and operational teams in Zambia, assisted by the Africa region Supply Chain teams, the IT support teams in Ivory Coast, and the coordination efforts of the regional FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) team.

The project, which began on September 1, 2016, required major investment. It will enable Bolloré Logistics Zambia to strengthen its Supply Chain management capacity, notably through an improvement in order preparation productivity, while the provision of activity reports will enable Unilever to optimise its restocking process.

Bolloré Transport & Logistics is thus continuing to pursue its objective of developing its value-added warehousing activities in Zambia and in the rest of Africa.

“We aim to support our customers through a continuous improvement approach that will benefit the performance of both parties, alongside a well-established two-way feedback process. We remain focused on our performance indicators and are always looking to refine our working methods to move ever closer to achieving operational excellence”, explained Olivier Terra, general manager of Bolloré Transport & Logistics in Zambia.
