Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services has started its 2025–2026 cherry season operations by moving the first cherries shipment from Chile to China, marking a strong beginning to one of the busiest periods for global perishable trade. The milestone reinforces the airline’s leadership in fresh-produce logistics and its important role in linking Africa to major trade routes.
The airline said the successful transport of the first shipment shows its readiness for the new season, when cherries move in high volumes from Latin America to Asian markets. These flights require fast handling and reliable cold-chain systems, areas in which Ethiopian Cargo has built significant capacity over the years. As Africa’s largest air cargo operator, the carrier continues to connect the continent to global supply chains through long-haul freighter operations and modern cargo hubs.
Cherries are among the most time-sensitive fruits in international trade, and airlines play a key role in moving them during a short harvesting window. Ethiopian Cargo’s operation between Chile and China signals strong demand for premium produce in Asia and the growing importance of Africa-based carriers in global perishables transport.
With the season now underway, Ethiopian Cargo is positioning itself to support global producers and buyers while strengthening Africa’s presence in international logistics.
