Nigeria in talks with EU for lifting Lufthansa, Air France KLM ban; bars Emirates

Starting today, Emirates has been added to the list of airlines which have been banned from operating in Nigeria.

Abuja and Lagos airports were opened to international flights as of September 5.

September 21, 2020: Starting today, Emirates has been added to the list of airlines which have been banned from operating in Nigeria. The minister of aviation Hadi Sirika stated in his twitter handle.

This comes as the UAE government is not renewing visas of Nigerians in Dubai and also rumours of a VISA ban for Nigerians applying for visas.

In his post dated September 19, he said, "The PTF sub committee met today with EU Ambassadors to discuss Lufthansa, Air France/KLM ban. The meeting progressed well.  Emirates' situation was reviewed and they are consequently included in the list of those not approved, with effect from Monday the 21st Sept. 2020."

Abuja and Lagos airports were opened to international flights as of September 5.
