January 12, 2021: The Tunisian ministry of transport and logistics named Olfa Hamdi as a new CEO for Tunisair, who is tasked with developing a strategic action plan to save the airline and enable it to be competitive.

The airline was without a CEO since July last year as Elyes Mnakbi was fired on corruption charges.

Hamdi is the founder and CEO of Concord Project Technologies, a company based in Palo Alto, California, US.

After the dismissal of Mnakbi, Belgacem Tayaa was then appointed caretaker until a new CEO was named at the head of the under-performing airline.

The airline, in February 2019, announced the laying off of 1,200 employees.

The carrier operates 30 aircraft.
