Uganda Airlines to introduce Bujumbura service
Effective today, Uganda Airlines will launch flights to Bujumbura / Burundi three times a week.
September 30, 2019: Effective September 30, Uganda Airlines has launched flights to Bujumbura / Burundi three times a week. The carrier launched its commercial operations on August 28 with its first commercial flight to Nairobi, Kenya, two decades after the airline closed business.
This announcement comes as a part of the carrier's network expansion plans to launch regional flights launched from Kampala to Juba, South Sudan; Mogadishu, Somalia; Kilimanjaro and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; and Bujumbura, Burundi.

On the other hand, Uganda Airlines has completed the formailities for the handover of its last two CRJ900 aircraft. The airline has earlier ordered for four last year and after taking the delivery of two commenced its operation.
The carrier will use the additional two aircraft to expand their route network and up frequencies on select routes before 2020/2021 taking delivery of two A338Neo aircraft to then launch long haul operations to Asia and Europe. The signing of the delivery documents in Montreal was preceded by Uganda paying a further $56 million to take ownership of the two aircraft.
