March 26, 2021: Astral Aviation has transported 132,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines and syringes to Juba, South Sudan, for the UNICEF COVAX Facility via its Nairobi hub.
The shipment was carried by Air India from Mumbai, India to Nairobi.
Astral operates a dedicated schedule service from Nairobi to Juba since Independence to South Sudan.
In his LinkedIn post, Sanjeev Gadhia, founder and CEO of Astral Aviation, noted, â€œThanks to UNICEF Supply Division and our partners Air India, Kuehne+Nagel and Network Aviation Group.â€
Astral Aviation is one of the 16 airlines that signed an agreement with UNICEF to prioritise the transport of Covid-19 vaccines, essential medicines, medical devices and other critical supplies to help fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
