DHL Express has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with YANMU Logistics, a subsidiary of Hassan Allam Group, to develop a new state-of-the-art service centre at the East Cairo Logistics Park (ECLP) on Suez Road. Backed by an investment of EUR 24 million, the project marks one of the company’s most significant infrastructure expansion initiatives in Egypt.

The agreement was signed during a ceremony held at the Hassan Allam Group head office in Cairo, attended by senior executives from both organisations. Once completed, the facility will become DHL Express’s largest service centre in Egypt. It will feature a built-up area of 11,000 square metres, with a total footprint of 13,000 square metres including service areas and parking. Designed to meet TAPA A global safety and security standards, the new hub is expected to double DHL’s operational capacity in the country. The expansion will allow the company to deploy a larger vehicle fleet, accelerate pick-up and delivery operations, and support its long-term target of achieving a 27% increase in business volumes by 2035.

The investment reinforces DHL Express’s role in strengthening regional and global connectivity. By leveraging Egypt’s strategic position as a gateway to Africa and the wider region, the new facility is expected to enhance cross-border network efficiency and further integrate Middle Eastern and African markets with global trade flows. Its proximity to the Ring Road and Suez Road is also expected to improve delivery accuracy and overall customer experience.

In parallel, DHL Express will expand its customs clearance facility at its country office at Cairo International Airport. Additional investments will be made to integrate advanced systems and automated solutions aimed at improving the speed and efficiency of inbound and outbound shipment processing.

Commenting on the development, Abdulaziz Busbate, CEO of DHL Express Middle East and North Africa, stated: “Opening the new facility is a strategic step aligned with the growing scale of business in Egypt, reaffirming our commitment to innovation and quality in delivering leading logistics services in Egypt and worldwide. We continuously work on developing our infrastructure and enhancing digital transformation across our systems and operational equipment to provide a superior customer experience. This project reflects our confidence in the strength of the local economy and its growing role as a strategic country for trade and logistics in the region.”

Karim Hefzi, Chief Operations Officer of Hassan Allam Utilities, said: “We are delighted to collaborate with DHL in establishing this advanced new facility, which supports the company’s expansion plans in Egypt. We are committed to delivering high-quality logistics infrastructure for optimal operational performance. This project reflects our capability to provide advanced logistics solutions that meet market needs and support business growth, reaffirming our commitment to the development of Egypt’s logistics sector.”

DHL Express said the project underlines its long-term commitment to Egypt’s logistics sector, supporting national infrastructure development, economic growth and evolving trade requirements.
