From March 31 to April 2, 2026, at the Salon International du Transport et de la Logistique (SITL) in Villepinte, the CMA CGM Foundation is highlighting the growing role of logistics in humanitarian response, with a focus on its latest innovation, the PharmaBox.

As global humanitarian needs continue to surge, nearly tripling over the past decade according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the logistics sector is facing increasing pressure to deliver aid in more complex and constrained environments. Challenges such as limited access to affected regions, rising operational costs, and security concerns have made logistics a central pillar of effective humanitarian action.

At SITL 2026, the CMA CGM Foundation is demonstrating how logistics expertise can be leveraged to address these challenges. Drawing on the broader capabilities of the CMA CGM Group across maritime, air, and rail transport, as well as warehousing and container handling, the Foundation supports non-governmental organisations by managing the transport, storage, and deployment of humanitarian aid.

Since its inception, the Foundation has transported more than 120,000 tonnes of humanitarian supplies to 106 countries. Its operating model is based on collaboration, where NGOs oversee on-ground operations and distribution, while the Foundation ensures the movement and delivery of goods. This integrated approach has become increasingly critical as access to aid becomes more difficult in many parts of the world.

A key highlight at this year’s event is the PharmaBox, an innovation designed to meet the operational needs of humanitarian actors working in crisis zones. Developed in partnership with Action Against Hunger, the PharmaBox is a mobile pharmacy built from a shipping container. It is energy-autonomous, secure, and can be rapidly deployed in areas where infrastructure is limited or non-existent.

The solution enables the safe storage and distribution of medicines in fragile environments, supporting medical and nutritional care for up to 50,000 children per year. Already deployed in the Central African Republic, the PharmaBox is being expanded with additional units heading to the Darfur region, as well as upcoming deployments planned for Burkina Faso, Nigeria, and Madagascar.

By introducing solutions such as the PharmaBox, the CMA CGM Foundation is reinforcing the role of logistics as a critical enabler of humanitarian impact, ensuring that aid reaches vulnerable populations more efficiently and reliably in some of the world’s most challenging environments.
