Aug 22, 2018: UBI Group, an oil and gas company has announced plans to build the largest solar farm in Ghana. Salma Okonkwo, CEO of the company intends to develop the solar farm by March 2019. She is now expanding her reach across Ghana's energy industry by building what could be one of Africa's largest solar power farms, calling it Blue Power Energy.

Blue Power will focus on renewable energy, steering away from UBI Group’s downstream petroleum operations. The company has set the goal to eventually provide the national grid with 100 percent renewable energy in order to make cities more sustainable.

“Most of the multinational companies that come to Ghana do not put in infrastructure. They operate a system where they invest very little and take it away,” Okonkwo informed.
