March 22, 2018: Breakbulk firm Upload Cargo has delivered a bronze statue to downtown New York, commemorating the final two living northern white rhinoceros.

The five-meter tall statue weighs 8 tonnes and features three white rhinos. However, the last male, Sudan, died in captivity shortly after the statue was erected. Poaching has meant that the northern white rhino have now been hunted to extinction with the only hope for survival from in vitro fertilization of either of the remaining two female rhinos.

“The greatest tragedy is that the ‘invaluable’ horns have been found to be composed of the same material as a human fingernail. Sadly it’s an animal that has been hunted to extinction for the material that humans clip and toss in bins all over the world every day,” a spokesperson for Upload Cargo said.

Upload Cargo is a member of G7 Logistics Networks, which provides a semi-exclusive freight forwarding network for almost 100 members across 78 countries.
