The 258th “Zad Al-Ezzah” convoy also carries flour, medicines, medical supplies, relief items and fuel to support hospitals and vital facilities.
August 9: Egyptian Red Crescent sent 4,226+ tonnes of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) has dispatched its 258th “Zad Al-Ezzah – From Egypt to Gaza” humanitarian aid convoy towards the Gaza Strip, carrying more than 70,000 food parcels. The convoy departed on August 17, according to a social media post by Egypt's State Information Service (SIS).
The ERC said the shipment includes a range of humanitarian assistance, including flour, relief supplies, medicines, medical items and petroleum products needed to support vital facilities and hospitals across Gaza.
The organisation is Egypt's national mechanism for coordinating humanitarian aid to Gaza. The ERC said it has maintained a presence at the border since the beginning of the crisis and continues to keep its logistics hubs prepared to facilitate the delivery of relief supplies.
According to the ERC, its humanitarian response has involved more than 75,000 volunteers and facilitated the delivery of more than 1 mn tonnes of relief.
Earlier August aid shipment
The latest convoy follows the dispatch of the 252nd “Zad Al-Ezzah – From Egypt to Gaza” convoy, which the SIS reported on August 9.
That convoy carried more than 4,226 tonnes of humanitarian assistance, comprising 1,534 tonnes of food baskets and flour, 321 tonnes of relief supplies and medical items, and 2,341 tonnes of fuel. The fuel was intended to support hospitals and other vital facilities, while the food and relief supplies were part of Egypt's ongoing humanitarian assistance to Gaza.
The latest convoy adds to the flow of humanitarian supplies coordinated by the ERC, covering food, medical and relief items as well as fuel for essential services.
