Damietta Port handles 30 vessels and over 39,000 tonnes of cargo
Container traffic included 3,744 TEUs of exports, imports and transit cargo, while 4,699 truck movements were recorded at the port
Damietta Port handled 30 vessels over the past 24 hours, with 15 general cargo and container ships arriving and 15 departing, while 24 vessels were undergoing loading and unloading operations.
The Damietta Port Authority media centre said general cargo exports totalled 13,444 tonnes. These included 4,500 tonnes of beet feed, 1,000 tonnes of urea, 5,000 tonnes of bagged gypsum, 162 tonnes of clinker, 250 tonnes of molasses and 2,532 tonnes of miscellaneous goods.
General cargo imports stood at 26,190 tonnes, comprising 6,489 tonnes of scrap metal, 864 tonnes of beech wood, 922 tonnes of plywood, 15,415 tonnes of corn and 2,500 tonnes of diverse goods.
Container traffic included 1,002 TEUs of exports, 323 TEUs of imports and 2,419 transit TEUs.
The port's public sector grain silo held 36,582 tonnes of wheat, while private sector stores held 27,390 tonnes. Total truck movement at the port reached 4,699 trips.
The Ro-Ro vessel GALLIPOLI SEAWAYS, operating between Damietta and Italy's Trieste, also departed on Friday after handling 4,411 tonnes of cargo. The cargo included vegetables, fruits, aluminium cables, textiles, car wiring harnesses, LED switches, connectors and private cars bound for several European countries and Morocco.
