Al Ahram Beverages Company announced in Egypt that it is expanding women’s participation in supply chains and technical roles through its Makanek program, focussing on how the initiative is increasing access, representation, and career progression for women across operations.

The company said a key milestone under the programme is the certification of Egypt’s first female forklift drivers, who have joined the workforce at the Sharkia Plant in supply chain roles requiring operational and technical skills.

ABC stated that since 2023, the number of women in supply chain roles has more than doubled, with women now accounting for over 50 per cent of management positions across maintenance planning, laboratory analysis, operations and plant leadership.

The Makanek programme is being implemented in partnership with Orange Corners Egypt and the Gozour Foundation to create structured career pathways and long-term employment opportunities for women in technical and STEM-linked functions.

The company said the initiative forms part of its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion agenda and broader people strategy aimed at integrating inclusive practices across all levels of operations and building a workforce based on skills and capability rather than gender.

ABC added that it plans to continue expanding the programme to support women’s participation and leadership in supply chain and technical roles within the company and across the sector.
