Uganda Airlines in quest of new CEO
Uganda Airlines is on a hunt for a new chief executive officer (CEO) who can drive the airline forward, confirmed Bageya Waiswa, permanent secretary in the ministry of works and transport.
October 15, 2019: Uganda Airlines is on the hunt for a new chief executive officer (CEO) who can drive the airline forward, confirmed Bageya Waiswa, permanent secretary in the ministry of works and transport.
According to ATC News, it is learned that Cornwell Muleya was appointed as acting CEO after serving as a technical advisor to the airline. Previous CEO Ephraim Bagenda was apparently moved to the position of director of engineering and maintenance. Now that the race for a new CEO is on, Muleya will no doubt himself be a serious contender, having previously served as airline CEO for different carriers and been one of the staunchest advocates for the launch of a new national airline during its gestation stage.

With four CRJ900 aircraft on the fleet, Uganda Airlines is eyeing 13 countries to fly from Entebbe to - Kenya, South Sudan, Burundi, Tanzania, and Congo. South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Sudan routes are also under planning.
Presently, Uganda Airlines fly to Nairobi, Juba, Bujumbura, Dar es Salaam and Mogadishu, adding Mombasa and Kilimanjaro in the coming weeks.
By the end of 2020 or in early 2021, the airline will take delivery of two ordered A330-800neo to enter the long-haul market with flights to India, China, and the UK.
