Emirates to resume Addis Ababa service from August 1

July 20, 2020: Emirates will restore services to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from August 1. Other destinations include Tehran (started from July 17), Guangzhou (July 25), and Oslo (August 4), expanding connectivity for customers with these latest cities rejoining its network across the Middle East, Asia Pacific, Africa, and Europe.

This will take the airline’s passenger network to 62 destinations in August, offering customers around the world more convenient connections to Dubai, and via Dubai.

The flights will be operated using B777-300ER. In response to the pandemic, Emirates has introduced additional cargo capacity by using 10 B777-300ER aircraft with seats removed from the economy class cabin. The aircraft can carry up to 17 tonnes or 132 cubic metres of additional cargo capacity per flight on top of the 40-50 tonnes of cargo capacity in the belly hold of the wide body passenger aircraft.

This month, the cargo division of the airline Emirates SkyCargo is operating scheduled cargo flights to 100 destinations across six continents. Some of the new African destinations added to its network include Accra, Tunis, Male, and Algiers.
